I take your point about 'impotence rather than hypocrisy', but if David Cameron wanted to make a real difference, publicly tackling the inequities of the current system would do more good - and do his reputation more good - than encouraging Africans to set up a larger free trade zone within the continent. As regards the EU where Cameron should in theory be of some influence, the truth is that the CAP, largely run in the interests of France, is something that Britain has railed against for many years now, but as long as the Franco-German axis continues to run EU policy nothing will change.
